Practice Nurse Clinic 

We hold a wide variety of clinics in Pontyclun and Llanharry.

Diabetes Clinic 

You will be notified by letter or text when your annual review is due. Please wait for us to send you a letter to text as we will only be offering a limited amount of review appointments with Menna (Lauren and Jenna are on maternity leave).

This group of patients should receive an annual flu vaccine.

Asthma Clinic

You will be notified via your repeat prescription or by letter when your annual review is due.  Please wait for your invite as both of our Respiratory trained nurses are on maternity leave (Lauren and Jenna).  We do have a Nurse Locum, Rachel Lewis available on a Monday and Tuesday for asthma reviews.

This group of patients should receive an annual flu vaccine.

Rhian Lang (ANP) is responisible for ensuring our COPD patients are contacted once a year for annual review.  Rhian will also support the Practice Nurse Team with Asthma reviews

Contraception/Sexual Health

All our Practice Nurses are trained to offer you advice regarding contraception.  If you would like advice regarding the Coil (IUD/IUCD) or Implanon (implant) please book a routine telephone call with one of the Doctors. 

We hold dedicated clinics for Coil/Implanons when we have a Doctor available to be released from routine surgery.

phlebotomy

Hypertension (patients on medication for high blood pressure) 

Every 12-15 months you should have your blood pressure measured and annual routine non fasting blood tests carried out.

Blood Tests

All blood tests are by appointment in Pontyclun and Llanharry surgeries. We are only offering appointments for bloods following a doctor’s consultation or if you need regular monitoring for chronic disease or medication safety.

You no longer need to fast for routine blood tests such as cholesterol. However, should you need to “fast” you will be advised of this by the doctor or nurse during your consultation.

We are not able to offer any blood appointments in the afternoon or hospital requested blood tests in the Practice.

DOAC/INR Clinic 

The Pharmacist who runs this clinic will book their own appointments. If you need an unscheduled appointment then please contact the surgery and a receptionist will be able to discuss this with you.

Baby Immunisation Clinic

Weekly baby clinics are held in Pontyclun on a Friday afternoon from 13:30 - 15:30 by appointment only.

Appointments are managed by the Child Health Office and NOT the Practice.  If you miss an appointment or are unable to attend the appointment allocated to you, please wait for a new appointment to be sent to you.

Health Visitor Weigh & Advice Clinic  (drop in clinics)

Clinics are held on Pontyclun Surgery on a Tuesday between 13:00 – 14:30 

Clinics are be held in Llanharry Surgery from 2 - 4pm every Thursday.

Influenza and Pneumoccocal Vaccinations 

We usually receive our first vaccination delivery in October.  If you are aged 65 and over or fall into one of the ‘at risk’ categories it is highly recommended that you receive an annual influenza (flu) vaccine.  If you do not wish to receive this vaccination then please let us know.

Drug and Alcohol Clinic 

The surgery runs a substance misuse and alcohol counselling clinic in Llanharry Surgery.  If you would like to be seen in this clinic, please make an appointment with one of the Doctors.

Physiotherapist 

This service is provided by Taff Ely Primary Care Cluster and we have a Physio present in the surgery once a week (Wednesday).  If you have a musculo-skeletal problem the reception team can book you a first contact appointment with the Physio, please contact us for more information.

Mental Health Practitioner 

This service is provided by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board and for patients with mental health concerns e.g. anxiety/low mood, depression and not under the care of secondary care. Patients can self refer to this clinic.  Clinics are held all day Wednesday and Thursday morning in Llanharry Surgery.

Wednesday clinic currently suspended until June 2024.

Skin Lesion 

We no longer offer Minor Surgery but are happy to look at new or ongoing skin lesions in a face to face appointment.  We hold dedicated clinics with either Dr James Mullan or Dr Emma White.

Medication reviews with Pharmacist

Our Pharmacist, Joanne Pritchard is available to deal with medication queries and carry out annual medication reviews.

Joanne's days of work are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
